Who would’ve thought that would be the most popular score in the Premier League thus far? Definitely not me – but it is clear that Chelsea are on the hunt for an emphatic League title defence. After only games they are already points ahead of the rest as the only team to have won both their games. Manchester City will have captured the interest of their closest rivals as they quite simply dominated a lacklustre Liverpool. Arsenal showed their pedigree against Blackpool whilst a classy Gareth Bale brace gave Spurs a valuable away win against Stoke.
Liverpool were dominated by Manchester City during the week and it’s looking like it might be another long season for the Reds. West Brom followed an opening day thrashing with an impressive win in their first home game. Travelling to Anfield is never easy and Liverpool will be looking to get some momentum going after two tough opening fixturesThe Toffees first game was marred by a goalkeeping howler as Tim Howard handed Blackburn gift of a winner at Ewood Park. Wolves claimed a valuable 3 points against Stoke and will be hoping to steer clear of the relegation zone throughout the season. Everton are sure to come back with a vengeance and will fancy themselves against anyone at Goodison Park. The points should stay in Merseyside.
Wigan were terrible in their opening fixture and they were embarrassed by Premier League newcomers Blackpool. Roberto Martinez will be feeling the pressure already. On the other hand, Chelsea asserted their dominance with a win on the opening day against WBA. Didier Drogba started the season with a hat-trick and will be looking for more this week. Wigan shocked Chelsea in the corresponding fixture last year but the thrashing they received on the final day of last season will be fresh in the memory. The Blues will expect nothing less

Reggina Calcio v Calcio best 2010

Carlos Valdes of Reggina and Ricardo Quaresma of Inter compete for the ball during the Serie A match between Reggina and Inter at the Stadio Granillo on November 01, 2008 in Reggio
How disappointing… man did we lay an egg in this one. I’m not sure what that means, but I think it’s bad which is why I’m saying it. Another match that we were expected to take, at home, and we threw it away. 3 points that will prove to be critical when spring rolls around. We’re clearly not clicking as a team right now and we need to figure this shit out. This loss was embarrassing for the team and for the fans that went to watch on a Tuesday afternoon.
Why was this the first match in a few weeks that I actually got to watch? Disgraceful. I don’t recall even threatening to score aside from a Cacia header early on that challenged the goalkeeper. Vicenza was causing all sorts of problems for us. And the loss of Brienza early on was the worst thing that could have happened. It’s clear that without Brienza there is no creativity in the attack. We fell 1-0 when Alessandro Sgrigna, a player we were trying to sign just a few weeks ago, collected a long pass with a great first touch to easily score a goal in a 1 on 1 situation. As we flooded forward to equalize we were caught on the counter attack and Vicenza threw the knockout punch to make it 2-0… even when it was 1-0 it was obvious there was little to no hope for this team to come backPagano was subbed out early again, was this his last chance? Brienza is hurt…. let’s hope he makes a quick recovery. Capelli was also subbed out real early, but he was probably just as bad as everyone else. It’s hard to write anything when I’m so I hope we turn this around. It’s only 1 loss but such an ugly one. There are already calls from the tifosi on

Spains triumph on Sunday evening in Austria was a win for football in a year that’s seen attacking play rewarded and will hopefully push the cautious approach even further back in the tactics of successfully teams.Chelsea’s cautious, and in truth boring, approach had threatened to take the entertainment value out of a sport that has become big business first and entertainment almost as an after thought. The same style, a 4-5-1 disguised as a 4-3-3, was readily being used in international football, where the pressure to succeed as brought about a low risk style of football amongst the big teams. With Manchester United following up back to back English Premier League titles with this seasons Champions League, paving the way for the likes of Arsenal to persevere with beautiful football and not revert to the less aesthetic type played out by most teams, Chelsea ended up trophy less, losing in the final of the League Cup, the Champions League, and the league. Their owner, Abromovich, has long called for attacking football, knowing that it will improve the brand name, increase their popularity around the world, and make them value for money. Mourinho, who delivered silverware, including back to back titles, was unable to deliver this, and Grant spoke about it, but if anything made them more boring. United were not only the top scorers, but also had the best defense.
